Making Nominations to the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame™ (ISHOF)

You are invited to nominate a candidate for possible induction into the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame™ from our selected categories. Currently there are over 150 inductees honored in total, coming from our five (5) select categories as listed below.

Nominations are accepted annually prior to April 1st for the current year consideration. Please submit early!

If you would like to nominatesomeone who has earned and deserves the honor of being inducted into the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame™, please let us know. We encourage nominations from various facets of the sport of snowmobiling and have established these categories for induction:

  • Inventors, Designers & Manufacturers

  • Explorers & Adventurers

  • Trail & Program Developers

  • Volunteers & Club Organizers

  • Publishers & Journalists

Length of service to the sport, involvement on state, provincial, regional, national and/or international levels — and widely recognized contributions — are major criteria used when reviewing submitted nominations. Please submit complete nominations with required information referenced below in NOMINATION - How It Works.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the number and quality of nominations received, it is likely that some very good nominations will be carried over to the following year.  

ALSO NOTE: Submitting a nomination does not guarantee induction.  Notification of selection will be made to candidates and their sponsors by May 15th.

All Nominations Must Include

  • Name of nominee including:

    • complete mailing address

    • phone

    • email contact information

  • Person or organization making & sponsoring nomination including:

    • complete mailing address

    • phone

    • email contact information

  • Recent color photograph submitted with your application:

    • If candidate is chosen for induction, a professional high resolution photograph will be requested.  

  • Category of nomination

  • Reasons & description/details of why you are nominating them

  • Resume detailing chronological history of involvement

  • Letters of support for nomination

Also Include:

  • Other pertinent information such as:

    • Copies of news articles about the nominee

    • Examples of special work achievements

Making Nominations for Edgar Hetteen Memorial Award of Merit

Edgar Hetteen was one of the true pioneers of snowmobiling and this very prestigious special award by ISHOF honors those individuals or companies for their unique contributions to the sport. It is specially named for Edgar Hetteen for all his contributions to snowmobiling and given for special recognition for accomplishments and years of service in a variety of categories to those who follow the vision of Edgar Hetteen. This special award is sponsored by ISHOF Founder, Elmer Cone & Family and the Iron Dog Brigade.

Criteria for Edgar Hetteen Memorial Award:

Edgar Hetteen believed in supporting and recognizing individuals that were truly the grassroots of the sport.

The recipient of the Edgar Hetteen Memorial Award:

  • Is an individual(s) or company that always steps up and does what needs to be done without being asked.

  • They are the unsung heroes of snowmobiling.

  • Prefers to be behind the scenes and is not looking for recognition.

  • Prefers to do their work at the local level.

The Edgar Hetteen award is selected from among specific nominations for this award or from nominations submitted to the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame — depending on who fits the criteria best.

International Groomer of the Year Award Nominations

The International Groomer of the Year is an annual award developed by the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame in cooperation with Arrowhead Groomers, Pisten BullyTrack Inc. & Prinoth, LTDto give credit to a groomer operator who has put so much of their time, energy and devotion to the providing smooth snowmobile trails for the rest of us enjoy. We are honored to have this award sponsored by all four companies.

Each year, the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame requests nominations for this award and asks for your assistance in finding these unsung heroes.We cannot recognize all of the dedicated individuals but do our best to choose a very deserving groomer. Nominations, which will be accepted annually until April 1, are requested.  If you would like to nominate and sponsor someone who has earned and deserves this honor, please let us know.

SELECTION

  1. ISHOF will choose a nominee (from all VALID and COMPLETE nominations received prior to the April 1 deadline annually). 

  2. In further recognition, a photo and honor plaque is then added and the recipient joins past inductees as a permanent remembrance of their involvement in the sport.

  3. The Edgar Hetteen Memorial Award winner will have their name added to a perpetual plaque and will receive a special Edgar Hetteen Memorial Award.
