All Terrain Vehicle Association of Minnesota Award of Merit

Recognizing individuals for their time and effort to volunteer towards recreational activities

2006 Award
Presented to:
Leonard “Len” Hardy, Minnesota

The Charter year for this award will be presented to Len Hardy from Nashwauk, Minnesota. Len is best noted for his tireless volunteerism to promote the positive effects of ATVing. His efforts range from attending meetings to discussing the merits of properly designed and built trails.

Len retired from the United States Army in 1978 as a Major. He then started Hardy General Contracting and retired from this occupation in 2001. Since his retirement, he has devoted many volunteer hours promoting recreational trails. In 2004, Len was recognized by American Trails with the 2004 State Trail Worker Award for Minnesota.

Since Len joined the All Terrain Vehicle Association of Minnesota (ATVAM) in 1998, he has been the First Vice President, and currently the Second Vice President. He has helped start approximately 19 different ATV clubs around Minnesota. Len also serves on many boards including Itasca County Trails Task Force, Itasca County Veteran’s Council, American Legion Post 307, and Itasca County Park & Recreation Board. For the last two years, Len has been representing the ATVer’s at the Itasca County Snowmobile Alliance meetings to help coordinate snowmobile and ATV trails.

ATVAM 1st Vice President Len Hardy to receive Volunteer Award of Merit

The International Snowmobile Hall of Fame ISHOF has selected Len Hardy, ATVAM 1st Vice President, for the volunteer Award of Merit which recognizes individuals for their time and effort to volunteer towards recreational activities. Dave Kryzer, ATVAM Region Director, was also nominated for this award with outstanding contributions towards volunteerism, yet with being the first year this award was created and only one selection being made in 2006, Dave Kryzer's nomination will be carried forward for the2007 Award of Merit.

The Charter yaer for this award will be presented to Len Hardy from Nashwauk, Minnesota. Len is best noted for his tireless voluteerism to promote the positive effects of motorized recreation. His efforts range from attending meetings to discussing the merits of properly designed and built trails.

Len retired from the United States Army in 1978 as a flight Instructor holding the rank of Major. He then started Hardy General Contracting and retired from this occupation in2001. Since his retirement, he has devoted many volunteer hours promoting recreational trails. In2004, Len was recognized by American Trails with the 2004 State Trail Worker Award for Minnesota.
